Loukoumades (Honey Balls) with Pissourkotiko Traditional Goat Halloumi Charalambides Christis!

Ingredients

For the batter:

  • 500 g. All-purpose flour
  • 200 g. Beer
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Sugar

For the filling:

  • 2 pieces of Pissourkotiko Sheep Yogurt Charalambides Christis
  • 1 small bowl of flour

For the finishing touch:

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp white and black sesame seeds

For the frying:

  • Sunflower oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, add the flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, and gradually pour in the beer while whisking with a wire whisk until well combined. The batter should be thick and smooth.
  2. Cut the halloumi into cubes.
  3. In a deep saucepan, heat the oil to reach a temperature of about 180 degrees Celsius.
  4. Take each cube, dip it first into the bowl with flour, then into the batter, and finally into the hot oil.
  5. Fry the cubes until they turn golden brown.
  6. Remove them from the oil and place them on absorbent paper, then transfer to a serving plate or bowl.
  7. Drizzle the loukoumades (honey balls) generously with honey and garnish with sesame seeds.
