Crispy Sesame Halloumi with Tomato and Chili Sauce!

For the sauce

  • 300 g. of concentrated Tomato juice
  • ½ teaspoon Chili
  • 250 g. Sugar
  • ● 100 ml Water
  • ● 100 ml Vinegar
  • ● 1 spoonful of tomato paste
  • ● Salt

For the halloumi

  • 500 g. Pissourkotiko Traditional Sheep Halloumi Charalambides Christis (cut into sticks)
  • 100 g. all-purpose flour
  • 1 spoon Oregano
  • 4 Eggs
  • 100 g. Breadcrumbs
  • 60 g. Sesame seeds (white and black)
  • 300 ml Sunflower oil (for frying)
  • Salt & Pepper


For the sauce

  1. Put all the ingredients in the blender and grind well.
  2. Then transfer the sauce to a saucepan and put it on low heat to thicken.

For the halloumi

  1. Place a large frying pan over high heat and pour the sunflower oil. Put the flour, oregano, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix. Set aside.
  2. Put the eggs in another bowl and beat them well with a whisk. Set aside.
  3. Then put the breadcrumbs with the sesame seeds in a tray and also keep them aside.
  4. Then, place the halloumi sticks one by one into the batter of flour, eggs and breadcrumbs. Dip each halloumi piece into the batter until well coated.
  5. Transfer to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Finally, serve them warm, with the sauce on the side.
