Ingredients
- 2 sheets of Chrysi Zymi Puff Pastry
- 2 garlic cloves
- 3 tbsp parsley
- 60 g unsalted butter
- 100 g Charalambides Christis halloumi
- 100 g mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 190-200°C.
- Allow the puff pastry sheets to thaw if frozen.
- Finely chop the garlic and parsley.
- Melt the butter and mix it in a bowl with the chopped garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Use a coarse grater to shred the halloumi and mozzarella.
- Roll out the first puff pastry sheet onto a parchment-lined baking tray. Brush the surface with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the top. Place the second puff pastry sheet over the first to cover it.
- Using a knife, cut the pastry into the shape of a Christmas tree (a large triangle). Make small cuts along the sides to create “branches,” and gently twist each strip upwards.
- Use the leftover pastry scraps to cut out star shapes to decorate the tree.
- Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush it over the pastry tree and stars.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Let the puff pastry Christmas tree cool slightly, then serve warm.
